The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) hosted its 44th Annual Memorial Weekend on May 3-4, honoring 140 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice. Among those memorialized were two Arkansas firefighters: Chief Philip P. Christensen of the Fort Smith Fire Department and Captain Jim McCammon of the Harrison Fire Department.

Christensen, who died on February 11, 2023, and McCammon, who died on May 12, 2019, both succumbed to complications from cancer. Their names were added to the Arkansas Fallen Firefighters Memorial earlier this year.

The tribute included two public events: the National Fallen Firefighters Candlelight Service on May 3, hosted by Fire Captain Garon Mosby of the St. Louis Fire Department, and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service on May 4, hosted by actor Jeremy Holm. Both events were streamed live on the NFFF website and social media channels, allowing communities nationwide to honor these heroes.
