For the second year in a row, Fayetteville’s Public Works Fleet Operations was named the No. 1 Mid-Sized Fleet in the nation, the city has announced.

The recognition was given June 24 during the Government Fleet Expo and Conference held in Charlotte, N.C. Also, Fleet Operations Superintendent Ross Jackson was selected as a top three finalist for the Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year award.

“I’m proud to be able to lead a team that is focused on efficiency and operational excellence,” Jackson said. “This recognition reflects the hard work, dedication and teamwork of an incredible group of professionals who support the City’s mission every day.”

The mid-size category includes cities with 500-999 assets. The Fleet Operations Division is tasked with vehicle and equipment procurement and maintenance for more than 800 on- and off-highway vehicles, as well as maintenance of the city’s fuel stations.

Along with wining top honors in the mid-size category, Fayetteville was ranked the No. 4 fleet nationwide across all categories. In all, there are around 38,000 public/government fleets in the United States.
